Dr Kate Jones Chiro
Masters Degree in Chiropractic : Over 7 years experience
Dr Kate Jones qualified in 2014 and has been a practicing Chiropractor ever since. She started off her career as a locum Chiropractor, filling in for various Chiropractors in Kloof, Hillcrest, Pietermaritzburg and even Nelspruit. This enabled her to experience working in a number of busy, successful chiropractic and multidisciplinary practices. She has worked closely with Homeopaths, General Practitioners, Biokineticists and Physiotherapists, and has learnt a lot about how important it is, when needed, to work together as a team for the greater goal, which is the health of the patient. This inspired her to open her own practice four years ago, and she has finally found her happy place at the Hillcrest Chiro in Meyrickton Park, Hillcrest.
“My first Chiropractic experience was of my mom getting treatment. She suffered with terrible tension headaches and was referred to a local Chiropractor. When he adjusted and treated her neck, there was instant relief and in my mind this was the most amazing, satisfying thing I had ever seen. I was inspired, and knew immediately that this was something I wanted to do with my life. I have always been a very-sporty, hands on type of person, and the idea of treating someone using my hands was such a wonderful concept to me.
My second Chiropractic experience was a couple of years later, when wanting to earn some extra pocket money, my dad paid me to cut down a tree and drag the branches down to the bottom of the garden. Needless to say, he also had to pay for two Chiropractic treatments afterwards to sort my back out, but I absolutely loved being adjusted and treated. I felt like I was walking on air and was immediately hooked.
I qualified with a Master’s degree in Chiropractic from the Durban University of Technology in 2014, completing my Master’s Dissertation on ‘The effect of sacroiliac joint manipulation on lumbar extensor muscle endurance in asymptomatic individuals’. This was later published in the Chiropractic Clinician Vol 1 No 1 in February 2018. I am a registered Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa practitioner and belong to the Chiropractic Association of South Africa and Pain SA.
Chiropractic is an amazing profession which helps people every day. I love what I do, and I’m so lucky to have a job where I can use my hands and be active which is really important to me. There is always a new person to meet and help, and a new challenge to face in practice. It keeps things interesting and keeps me on my toes.
I am passionate about treating and healing babies, children and adults of all ages through Chiropractic care. I have treated patients from only a few weeks old, to over 90 years old. The main issues I see in babies are colic, reflux and torticollis. Parents are encouraged to bring their babies for a general check up after birth, whether caesar or natural birth, to make sure their babies have sufficient spinal mobility and alignment, and are reaching their developmental milestones. Pregnant women most commonly suffer from back and hip pain due to postural and hormonal changes, pain can be minimized and pelvic alignment maintained for easier labour and delivery. In children of all ages from young to teenage years I often treat back and neck pain due to poor posture and increased cell phone, tablet and lap top use. Overuse injuries, sprains and strains sustained from competitive sports are also common injuries seen in athletic children. Adults, suffering from a range of issues including headaches, neck and back pain, sports and overuse injuries in the hips, knees and shoulders are also commonly treated. My goal is to reduce their pain and discomfort, improve their quality of life and help them to reach their greatest health potential.
I have attended various spinal adjustment courses in order to perfect my techniques, and I have a special interest in sports and fitness. As a teenager I swam and played waterpolo provincially, but most recently I have participated in half marathons and Tin Man triathlons.
I grew up in the Upper highway area and, with being a local to the area, I am so happy to make Hillcrest the home of my practice.”

“Kate is fantastic! Finding the right Chiropractor can be tough until you meet Kate. She’s friendly and professional at the same time.
Treatment:
- At first you’re greeted with a smile and a little chat as she finds out more about you and the reason you’ve come to her.
- Kate then takes note of your initial state, keeping track of any adjustments and changes along the way.
- Treatment is comprehensive, as she makes sure to address each area of concern. My treatment times ranged from 30-45mins in most cases, depending on the treatment needed.
- While being treated, you’re encouraged to share if you feel any discomfort, pain referral or even relief.
- Post treatment you immediately feel lighter and have a much greater range of motion.
- Payment services are easy, as a card machine is provided and you are given an A4 printed receipt of your appointment with practice details for medical aid claims and a separate card transaction payment receipt as well.
Practice:
- Close to Hillcrest town centre.
- Parking is provided.
- Comfortable waiting area.
- Clean and well designed.
I personally had neck and shoulder pain from job related bad posture and started seeing the results of going to Kate immediately. My treatment comprised of a few neck and spinal adjustments / realignments, massages and dry needling for tough knots. All of which were comfortable and done with great technique.
I hope this helps you choose Dr. Kate Jones, you’ll definitely be happy if you do!”
Who can benefit from Chiropractic Care?
Virtually anyone can benefit from Chiropractic care as it is non-invasive.

Office Workers
Office workers who sit in front of computers for extended periods with poor posture, poor desk set up and little or no exercise.
Elderly People
Elderly people with wear and tear osteoarthritis who have limited mobility, disc issues and nerve impingement.
Heavy Lifters & Factory Workers
